Brenda Abdullah Designs

As an Eco-conscious artist/designer I create high quality one-of-a-kind apparel using repurposed clothing. Through the use of gently used garments and vintage textiles, I bring together stylish silhouettes with artistic fabric collage. Each garment is a study in color and textural relationships. The end result is fabulous wearable art!

Creating my designs is literally a practice in vision, faith, hope and renewal. I take what is considered cast-offs  through a process of cleaning, deconstruction, cutting, shrinking, piecing and stitching until a completely new creation emerges.

The inspiration is threefold: My love of beautiful woven, knit, and crochet textiles, my passion for exploring color relationships, and my desire to assemble fabrics with the sensitivity  of a painter creating pleasing visual compositions.

In a culture of mass production and material excess, my organic design approach allows me to offer completely original one-of-a-kind designs. I have enjoyed designing and creating clothing and accessories  for over 25 years, first as a custom dressmaker, now as an artist.
